Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA)

The Agency for Health Care Administration champions accessible, affordable and quality health care for all Floridians.  AHCA regulates health care facilities and health maintenance organizations (HMOs).  AHCA also administers the Medicaid program, and publishes health care guides and statistics.


Information Center

 
This toll-free service is available from 8a.m. to 5p.m., Monday through Friday.  Callers are provided with easy access to AHCA’s programs and publications. (888) 419-3456
An automated telephone system allows callers to:
  • Express quality of care or billing concerns about hospitals, nursing homes, or home health agencies,
  • File complaints or verify licenses of Florida’s licensed health care practitioners,
  • File a complaint about an HMO,
  • Report possible Medicaid Fraud or Abuse,
  • Order publications produced by AHCA.

Medicaid Eligibility

The Institutional Care Program (ICP) is a program to help pay nursing home costs for residents who cannot afford such costs on their own.  Eligibility for the ICP is determined by the Department of Children and Families and is administered under state and federal guidelines.  When you call the toll-free number, you will be given a second number for the service center located nearest to you.

Consumer Services

The Department of Financial Services’ Consumer Services can provide booklets covering a wide assortment of insurance issues including long-term care and Medicare supplement insurance.  Consumer services can answer questions about insurance companies and help mediate consumer problems and complaints with insurance companies.  (877) 693-5236

Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Hotline
